Project brief form: goals, scope, timeline and budget

Projects drift when the brief lives in someone's head. This form walks a client through the questions that matter: what the goal is, who the work is for, what has to be delivered, examples they like, when it should start and finish, and the budget range they have in mind.

Who it is for

When to use it

Send it after the first conversation and before you quote or plan. The client can take their time on the longer questions, add links to examples and attach a document such as an existing brand guide. A good brief turns the kick-off meeting into a discussion of details rather than basics.

The PDF your respondents receive

The PDF reads like a short brief: company or project name, contact details, goals, audience, deliverables, references, dates and budget range. Everyone on the project can work from the same page, and it makes a useful reference if the scope is questioned later.

Questions people ask

Can the client attach files?
Yes. There is an upload for a document, in PDF, PNG or JPEG format, for things such as a brand guide or a sketch.
Is the budget a fixed amount?
No, it is a range chosen from a list: under 1,000 EUR up to over 15,000 EUR, or not sure yet. You can edit the ranges and the currency to suit your market.
How is this different from a quote request?
A quote request opens the conversation with a short description. A brief is the deeper document you collect once the project is likely to happen.
